B.A. Alumni Stories

Stephanie Morgan – Class of 2014

Stephanie Morgan has one piece of advice for Communication Studies students, and all college students for that matter. She says, “Do not give up on your dreams! Have faith in yourself. You can achieve anything you set your heart or mind to!” Stephanie never gave up on her dream, and she recently graduated summa cum laude from our department.

Stephanie was a transfer student who came to UNCG after earning her associate degree from Guilford Technical Community College. Originally, Stephanie majored in Elementary Education, but found that it wasn’t for her. After conducting some research, she found her place here at UNCG’s Communication Studies Department. In 2013 she was inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the honor society for the National Communication Association. Stephanie attributes her success to courses like Communication and Community and Reclaiming Democracy, which allowed her to step outside of her comfort zone and help others. Stephanie was inspired by teachers like Dr. Spoma Jovanovic, who impacted her both inside and outside of the classroom.

Stephanie is currently living in Raleigh and planning her wedding. She works as an office assistant, and is gaining experience which will be beneficial in the future. Stephanie plans on returning to school next spring and receiving her master’s degree in nonprofit management. She wants to remain in Raleigh and immerse herself in the city so she can make a difference.  After conducting research on food insecurity during her college career, she found that she wants to work for a nonprofit organization which helps people gain access to healthy food.

Stephanie says that UNCG has completely changed her life, and thanks to the Communication Studies Department, Stephanie can now go out and change the lives of others.
