The Communication Studies department at UNCG provided me with a unique focus to study during my undergraduate years, which then led to me joining the MA program. One of the reasons I chose this program and loved my undergraduate years was the phenomenal group of faculty in the CST department. These professors taught me so much about communication and life in general and were always there for me when I had questions, comments, concerns, or anything related to communication (and life in general as well).

Personally, I am interested in interpersonal and family communication, as well as mental health and communication, and I really enjoyed taking classes that I could connect my own interests to the class, which, to be honest, was pretty much every class I took. The professors definitely helped me shape this interest and my potential career paths, and are always looking to help students in whatever path the student wants to pursue. I am so grateful for getting my BA in CST and for what the department has helped me accomplish.

I chose UNCG because when I came for my orientation before beginning my freshman year, I immediately felt welcomed and at home. I felt like I could comfortably become acclimated into the UNCG community and really reach my potential to get involved as much as possible. A few of my goals for my undergraduate years were to work on campus, become a resident advisor, become a better professional, and study abroad (in Spain, specifically). I was fortunate enough to be able to accomplish all of these goals.

Although I had no intention of joining Greek Life prior to coming to college, I joined the fraternity of
Kappa Delta Rho, which became my family away from home and where I held 3 executive positions to help the fraternity and further my own professional development. I also met my current my wife during sophomore year, so, along with all the other reasons listed above, UNCG will always hold a place in
my heart.
