Andrea Patterson – M.A. 1997

Andrea Patterson is a member of the speech communication faculty at Winston Salem State University and a visiting lecturer in the Communication Studies Department at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Patterson, an educator since 1993, has a passion for helping people find their authentic cultural voice and using transformative communication more effectively.

She is one of approximately 850 certified developmental education specialists world-wide, sponsored by the Kellogg Institute and the Kellogg Institute and the National Association for Developmental Education. She is a recipient of the 1993 ALANA scholar sponsored by the Kellogg Institute and is a proud TRIO achiever and student. She is a former assistant director of learning assistance at UNCG and served as an academic advisor.

Ms. Patterson received her bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees in Speech Communication from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she is earning her doctorate in Curriculum and Teaching with a specialization in Cultural Studies.
