One month prior to graduation in May 2013, I attended the Employer Appreciation Meet and Greet hosted by UNCG as a representative of the Communication Studies department. It was at this particular event that I had the opportunity to meet and network with several highly regarded professionals in the local area, including the one that I work for today.

As the Broker Assistant for iSurity, Inc. in High Point, I have attended an intense two-week training course in Philadelphia, PA on the fundamentals of insurance, passed both my Property and Casualty licensing examinations, and began the process of transitioning into the role of Broker. Overall, it has been an exhilarating beginning to a lifelong career in the insurance industry, one that would not have been possible without the skills and knowledge that I gained as a Communication Studies major.

Therefore, I am significantly thankful for the strong communication, leadership, and networking skills that I gained as a result of being a Communication Studies major at UNCG. For that, I am forever indebted to the wonderful professors of the Communication Studies department. They are passionate about what they teach, and they truly care about the success of their students. As a Communication Studies major, you will build strong leadership abilities, learn how to collaborate effectively in diverse groups, strengthen your presentation skills and enhance your ability to write in a professional format. The skills that you will gain as a Communication Studies major will provide you with the opportunity to excel in more ways than you ever thought possible.
