My name is Sam “Chip” Cook, and I graduated with both a BA and MA from UNC Greensboro in Communication Studies. In later studies, I also obtained a Graduate Certificate in Computer Networking from East Carolina University.
Coupled with my interests in information technology, I merged my studies of speech communication with the application of technology and was able to establish a career as an information technology professional.
Along with my technology interests, I also was able to explore teaching as a career in both my undergraduate and graduate studies. The most significant experience was working as a teaching assistant in graduate school. After teaching my own CST 105 course for a semester, I knew I wanted to teach in college as a career.
I currently work in a permanent part-time position with the Federal Judiciary, managing and providing IT support to a small agency of the United States Courts. I also work as a lecturer, teaching speech communication and information technology courses at both my alma mater (UNCG) and NC A & T State University. Many people hope to be fulfilled in what they do for work in one area, but I have been able to explore and grow professionally in two!
